Welcome to Dear Alfie

Life is complicated. People are exhausting. And sometimes, the best way through a difficult situation is a little wisdom, a little perspective and a very good laugh! Welcome to Dear Alfie (the 21st century Dear Abby advice column.) We will talk about love, family, friendship, heartbreak, labor law, wedding planning and the peculiar things people do when they think nobody is watching.

Who am I? Let’s just say I’ve lived long enough to learn a few things, made enough mistakes to recognize them in others, and met enough fascinating people to know that the truth is often stranger than fiction. I’ll tell you what I think, try to make you laugh and occasionally, remind you of something important: Unless someone died, we can fix it.

Pull up a chair. Pour yourself something nice. Every Sunday, we’ll sort through life’s little disasters, unexpected joys and everything in between. Have a question for Alfie? Write to askdearalfie.com and I will give you an answer.

Why do I feel qualified? I am educated. I have worked in Human Resources at the executive level for over 40 years. I have run my own wedding planning company. I am a master floral designer and expert gardener. And through extraordinary means, I became a father and raised a child. I have loved and lost and loved again. I believe I have seen it all. And if by chance you have a question or issue that exceeds my expertise, I will get you the answer! And I promise we will laugh together.

Names and identifying details will be kept private.

Yours truly,

Alfie

P.S. Good judgment is encouraged. Neither wisdom nor good behavior is guaranteed.
